The Official Website of Paul Michael Glaser

VH1 Acknowledgement to Paul's LTA and S&H movie announcement....July 1, 2003

The show opens with several scenes form Starsky & Hutch.

Narrator: Paul Michael Glaser played dreamy Detective Dave Starsky on the ultimate 70?s show, Starsky & Hutch. Before he got street credit, Paul showed off his pipes and his moves in the 1971 big screen classic, "Fiddler on the Roof". (Scenes are shown here).

But it was his role as the dark-haired half of America ?s grooviest cop duo, Starsky & Hutch, that put him on the radar. The show was a ratings smash but after four seasons of cruising the streets in a souped-up Ford Torino, Starsky & Hutch ran out of gas in 1979.

Narrator: Then in 1981, his career and life took a sudden and tragic turn when his wife, Elizabeth, contracted the HIV virus through a blood transfusion and passed it on to their two children. After losing their daughter in 1988, Paul & Elizabeth founded the Pediatric Aids Foundation. Sadly in 1994, after years of tireless activism, Elizabeth passed away.

(Paul is shown directing Running Man).

Narrator: Needing a creative outlet, Paul took to the director?s chair helming successful films like "The Running Man" and "Kazaam".

Narrator: So where is Paul Michael Glaser now??

Paul (interviewed clip): "To me it was a vehicle?it was an opportunity to say hello?let me share with you what I?m?what I?m doing."

Paul (accepts award): "I thank you and ask only that you do more".

(Scenes from EGPAF fundraiser's, K4K's, Time for Heroes set to the song "All Star" by Smashmouth are shown here.)

Paul: "It means an awful lot to have people like Hillary Clinton, Tom Cruise, Dustin Hoffman?visibly support the Foundation".

Narrator: The circuit isn?t Paul?s only chance to rub elbow with Hollywood ?s elite. After nearly two decades, he?s finally back in front of the camera ? set to make a cameo in the big-screen version of the show that made him a household name.

Paul: "Starsky & Hutch is coming back as a feature film with Ben Stiller playing Starsky and Owen Wilson playing Hutch. And I think they?ll be great together."

Narrator: After a lifetime filled with personal highs and lows, this former sex symbol is remarried (picture of Paul and Tracy shown ) and is close as ever to his son, now in his teens and living with HIV (picture of Paul and his son, Jake shown). Through it all, Paul Michael has continued to keep a positive outlook.

Paul: "My whole journey with life and death?I have learned more, grown more, gotten to places that I never would have gotten to. So that?s a good thing, you know?and it?s something I feel really good about." (Clip fades out with Paul smiling).
